I haven't been able to send mail from my adamrulz.com mail accounts for a few days. I use their mail server, nothing to do with Rogers, and all of a sudden I can't get out through port 25...

So I suspect foul play... and there is teh most foul play afoot!

http://www.rogershelp.com/yahoo/mail/smtp.html

Quote:
Why am I having difficulty sending email messages through my work or school email account?

In an effort to reduce unsolicited bulk email traffic ("spam"), Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet and many other Internet and e-mail service providers now prevent access to the standard port used in sending e-mail (port 25) for any message that do not use the ISP's own outgoing SMTP servers. While this is effective in reducing the amount of spam sent from a network, it also requires that customers who send messages through their work or e-mail accounts make a small settings change within their e-mail program.

1. Configure your email client to send mail using SMTP on an alternate port
2. Use the authenticated Rogers Yahoo! Email server
3. Use alternate email access services such as Rogers Yahoo! or Hotmail

Wow... what a bunch of ass munchers. I refuse to use my rogers e-mail and don't imagine they will let me use their outgoing servers to send mail that's not from an @rogers.com e-mail address. It never worked in the past because of ... SPAM RISK! Idiots. -_-

It seems they may allow me to authenticate with my Rogers credentials but send from another e-mail address but I'm not sure if that'll fly... plus I wouldn't even know what my account with them would be for e-mail since I never set that garbage up.

So much to say don't expect any e-mails from me until next week when I figure this out unless they come from gmail... which doesn't block sending mail. -_-

I won't like to agree with you but I think you are once again being had or lying about Rogers. My email works fine with my rogers, gmail and haldenjohnson.net.

Then whatever mail client you use must be configured to send and authenticate through the Rogers e-mail client. I on the other hand use mail.adamrulz.com as my outgoing mail client. So if you tried to use mail.haldenjohnson.net as you outgoing mail client you'd be screwed.

Werid... well I'll fiddle but simply from the fact that they mention blocking that port on their website I think they must be doing it or planning to. Seems to much of a coincidence considering I simply can't get out o that port. If I can somehow get it to work with Rogers mail servers I'llk now that's my problem.

w0rd to that! Yet the AIM name was taken hence I go by "Sexy Sexy aDam". It also acts as a superliminal message when I'm talking to people. I guess that's how I fooled Janine. 8)
