It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.

Here's some info on a Liger in a zoo named "Hobbs". I bet they don't have one of these at the ptown zoo!
http://www.sierrasafarizoo.com/animals/liger.htm

Here are some more Ligers:
http://www.tigers-animal-actors.com/abo ... liger.html
You can see how big they are at the pictures on that page especially this one:
http://www.tigers-animal-actors.com/abo ... gerkrf.JPG
How does the mix between two animals make a bigger animal? That's weird. Though I'm taller than both my parents... but we're hardly different species...

So a Liger is a male Lion and female Tiger but here they show a "Tigon" which is a male Tiger and female Lion:

That's really weird that it would make such a drastically different looking animal when I would think it has similar genes. I mean it's a female so she's XX and would be the same if it was a Liger so ... must be some other gene. Weird... this does not fit into what I know about genetics so apparently I don't know everything there is to know about genetics.

Here's another Liger born in a zoo:

Cool tail.

Baby Liger!

Hehe. Behold the Liger! Yeah lately I've been thinking it was time to stop with the Keiko pictures just needed the right thing to replace them with.

Hey! We have um... an aquarium somewhere? Actually it's more like a big pet store... and I think there's a big pet store some place east of the city though I can't seem to remember where that is.

Oh yeah Zorses are cool too. Liger stripes sort of reminded me of them. I only know of 3 hybrids like that. Mules, Zorses and Ligers. Though I assume there are others.

... I wonder if a human can mate with anything non human and create offspring. Hm... I'll leave that up to someone else to try. -_-

And what's that mean?

So I asked my sister and father, both of them have taken University level geneitcs courses, and neither of them could give me a reason for which a Liger is genetically different from a Tigon.

Could be that they use the male name first so that people know that it was a male lion.... or a male tiger that was used?

I don't think humans are compatible -_-

You want me to bring her back? You really feel better looking at a girl and thinking it's me? Haha. Though a Liger...

Reptile zoo! Fun fun. I assume there aren't a bunch of free range reptiles running around there?

But yeah. If it was just the name and they looked the same I would understand. But they are named differently and look quite different. Ligers bigger than both parents while Tigons are smaller.

So thinking about genetics. Besides the X/Y thing then either of the pair or genes can go to the offspring. Otherwise all siblings would be genetically identicall... even the sex would not vary. So yeah I don't see any genetic reason for which I Liger and Tigon should be different. My assumption at this point is that they are genetically similar. Perhaps the Tigon just has more trouble in it's coming to term in the Lion womb than the Tiger womb so it comes out unheathy and with stunted growth. Lacking hormones or something. 'cause they say Tigons happen less often perhaps they just die in the womb more. That's just a theory though. I will try to ask someone who knows more about genetics.

Hm... Maeva cloned fish in a lab she should know...

Oh yeah... and humans could likely bread with Neanderthals... but they're extinct. -_-

You remember that quiz of mine, the insanity one, and the little picture you got with the result, that's a crossbreed riger.

Like that folks.
