As a threat level a robot attack would be high, easily whipping out most of the population due to their high levels of strength, large numbers, ease of reproduction and cold, calculated efficiency.

While this thread lingers in the back of my mind, and I don't doubt there are robotic technologies out there we are not made aware of, I don't believe this kind of threat is in any way immediate. I would estimate a good 20 to 30 years before the possibility would even exist, and at that we should all see it coming long before we've got them putting the gears to us.

My plan would be to have a robot to defend myself. It seems likely that by using some sort of unified update network, the robots could be controlled and coordinated in an effective attack. My personal defense robot or robot, would need to be offline most of the time, so that I could be defended when they turn on us. I fear such a thing will be impossible, as we live in a time where computers are always online, as are things like game systems. The very concept of a robot that does no need to be online may simply be an impossibility, but this will be my plan.

Vulnerability of robots is an unknown at this time as a simple housework robot would be very vulnerable to blunt damage, but if robots are used for anything close to militaristic purposes, we're pretty fucked and reduced to hiding.

For a good example of a planned robot insurgence, see The Bots Master.

I can't see Asimo, roombaand industrial robots banding together or reaching the singularity [ The technological singularity is a hypothesized point in the future variously characterized by the technological creation of self-improving intelligence, unprecedentedly rapid technological progress, or some combination of the two. ] any time soon but it could be a threat in the future.

I think the last resort option would be killing all technology with an EMP but then that leads to how do we recover from an EMP Apocalypse.

I am not so much as worried about those particular models, but the technology is getting there.

Fortunately, these are mostly good examples of bodies and not so much the AI around them. AI I think will be developed in the desktop before it goes into robots, but who knows. The speed of computer development over the last few decades is mind blowing.

This thing has me worried:
