I have mapped out a route that does not use major highways:

Excellent. That is well within walking range as well.

Oh yes. That's a day's walk at the most, assuming walking is safe.

I also like the ease of getting there. West on Fallowfield until Carp. North on Carp. Hell, West on anything until Carp, North on Carp and you can't miss it!

Naturally, should we ever attain the Diefenbunker it would be prudent to destroy all surrounding signs indicating the bunker is there, and maybe putting up stores indicating it's a simple warehouse or something of the sort.

My main fear with this contingency plan is there will already be people there. It really depends on the survival rate.

I tend to wonder what they have that's better? You don't decommission this kind of thing without a better plan. I'm thinking there is simply something a little closer to home. Probably something under the Parliament.

Of course, there is still a need of something out of town and outside of the blast radius. I couldn't begin to guess where they would hide such a thing.

Obscurity would be key. This task would be made more difficult by all the province of Ontario signs indicating where it is.

I have not lost so much faith in humanity in thinking that other survivors already at the bunker would not help us.

That's is optimistic, but I think it may be possible. I am still fairly untrusting.

The signs could present a problem. I have long feared the total loss of signs and tried to keep myself trained to find things without them. One of the tasks I would do while driving to Peterborough when I was doing it frequently was trying to see if I could find my way there by using physical landmarks, and not following any actual signs.

Hell, to hide the Diefenbunker effectively it may be necessary to destroy all signs indicating Carp Road. We would also need to be able to identify it in the event of someone else removing such signs.

I've place the Diefenbunker in my GPS. Now nothing will stop me from finding it, assuming we still have satellites in the sky...
