So I went over to TV tome a while back. I was going to go and offer to be the show editor for the show and add info but it said I needed to have summaries for each episode and anal shit like that so I didn't bother.

So I go by today and some guy just came in and became the show editor and just stole summaries right off of my site and posted them there without asking me or crediting me.

I'm pretty cheesed. I mean I could have done as much, and more, but now this guy is just passing off my work as his own. I've been pretty lenient in the past about people stealing my graphics and such. I don't think that's a big deal but this guy is stealing actual content. Some of those summaries weren't even written by me.

For example:

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome....-199271

Even down to notes like:
Quote:
Recently I figured out that reporter Lonnie Chang is a neat parody of former news caster Connie Chang.
Which really pisses me off since by not changing the first person use it makes it look like this guy figured that out on his own.

The only original content I'm seeing on the site is

Well I sent him a polite e-mail. I hope this works out without much trouble.

Hi,

I wandered over to TV Tome and couldn't help but notice that a lot of stuff from my site, http://botsmaster.com/ , was being used.

Most stuff like episode lists and cast listings is of course just knowledge and not the property of anyone.

Other stuff like word for word plagiarism of episode summaries from my site I'm not okay with. I would have appreciated it if you had contacted me before posting any of this.

While I appreciate the link in the links section I would like for you to credit the source of any episode summaries on the pages were they are used or to take them down.

Some of those summaries were not written by me as can clearly be seen on the page from which they were taken. The girl who wrote them for me wrote them to be posted on my site. I can try to get you in contact with her to see if she is okay with you posting this information if you wish but without getting such an okay from her I would ask that you remove those completely.

This is the second time I send this e-mail. I'm sorry if I may have confused you by being polite in my first e-mail. This is not a request but a demand. You will remove those plagiarized episode summaries from TV Tome immediately. I would prefer this doesn't get dirty.

This is the last e-mail I will send you.

If I don't hear from him in a few days I have to assume he's ignoring me and act accordingly.

how about emailing the site and not the author?

That's what I consider by "getting dirty" which isn't something I'm keen on doing. If this guy doesn't reply to my request there's little else I can do. I think I'm probably going to end up doing it soon.

Also there's an add info feature that I think (not sure) anyone can do so I can put these really obnoxious disclaimers myself at the end of the summaries... of course then I'd look like the troll and then tvtome wouldn't take me seriously.

Hi,

I'm the web master at a web page for the cartoon the Bots Master which is located at http://botsmaster.com/

On this site I have some episode summaries, some of which were written by me and some of which are written by someone else. I've noticed that this content has been copied word for word by the current person managing the TV tome Bots Master page located at http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-5001/

By comparing the text found at the two following links the similarities should be obvious:
http://botsmaster.com/episodes.html#ep01
http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome....-199269

While I understand that such things as basic information about a show and episode titles are not something anyone can claim any copyright to these summaries are quite a different matter. I'm not simply concerned about what's being done with my own intellectual property but also that of the girl who wrote some other summaries for use on my site exclusively.

I have already attempted to contact the master show editor japanime83 ( http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/UserProfile/userid-91763 ) twice by e-mail first on October 20th simply requesting acknowledgement and then again on the 27th asking for the summaries to be removed and I have not so much as gotten an e-mail reply.

I would appreciate if someone could remove these summaries.

Some extra information as is required by http://www.tvtome.com/info/copyright.html

My name and address (as a whois search on adamrulz.com or botsmaster.com can verify) :

+snip+

I contest that the above information is accurate.

Thank you for any help.

A yes. A very speedy response from the fine people at TV Tome. I also find it interesting that the show is listed as needing a show editor.

Part of me wants to do it but then I'd feel like I ratted this guy out as a coup attempt. Also the requirement for being a show editor are nothing close to the amount of info I could add to that thing... of course I couldn't imagine anyone else having the amount of info they actually want and would be cheesed to see some other shmoe do it.

Oh well I'm going to go work on a disclaimer while I think about it.
