When I started working muffins were par and 90 cents a piece... then they went to 1$ a piece and were slightly sub par. Now they are 1.10$ a piece and are terribly sub par. This is not the kind of inflation that I would expect in undere 2.5 years of working here unless they're made out of gasoline... which would be in keeping with the sub par taste they carry.
The quality of the coffee has also apparently decreased significantly and in reverse proportion to price.
Not to mention a 1$ rise in the cost of the club for no obvious reason.
So I thought things could not get worse... but THEN!
They had chocolate chip muffins this morning. This has become my muffin of choice since the double chocolate muffins went so sub par they were about as enjoyable to eat as bleached white paper... but I digress...
Chocolate chip muffins look a little weird today. Sort of reminded of the day I had a spongey chunk in the middle of mine. Still I grab it and buy it hoping that maybe a cookingmistake would bring it up to only mildly sub par quality.
*munch munch*
Well that tastes weird... sort of reminds me of... no it couldn't be... why does this taste like banana bread?
(mistake time) *taking another bite*
Ewww.... that does taste like banana bread! Both Kris and Pat have verified both by taste and visual inspection of the muffin that they have served me some form of banana chocolate chip muffin.
That does it! Not only is the caf trying to subject me to all time lows in quality of food such that the Newport has never seen but they're also trying to kill me. -_-
What's next? Nuts in Kris's coffee? And I don't mean that kinky thing Pat does with his shaved sac when he thinks Kris isn't looking...

Did you die?
I think we can finally put this banana allergy fiasco to bed.
On a side note, I would love to have the option of a banana chocolate chip muffin at my caf. Kudos to them for the brilliant breakfast combination, and for the potential manslaughter.

I also thought it was kind of tasty as aDam can confirm as we munched on the reminates of it. Though I had a fear in that back of my head that there might be a big nut in the middle...not Pat's of course....

Banana bread has a very low concentration of bananas hence my mother used to force feed it to me despite my alergy to bananas as a child. Also cooking things changes them chemically. Also I didn't eat much of it.

Is that your scientific opinion?

You're allergic to non-cooked bananas only? I'll get on board with Glass Man ... ummmm, errrrrrr ... well ... that's iffy I'm thinking.
Anyway, the fruit with fibre things are pretty good over there but I agree, the muffins suck huge from where they used to be. The carrot used to the best in town I swear to gawd, now they're all cakey when they make them.

Never tried the fruit/fiber thing. That's really the last thing my colon needs.
I'm not saying something happened to the banana that makes me not alergic to it. I'm not even saying I'm sure I have a real alergy to bananas. I'm just saying that the smell of them makes me choke and the only time I actual ate a real banana I puked it up instantly and (according to my mother) turned white with black under my eyes.
Research has demonstrated that banana alergies are common in people who are also alergic to latex which I am not alergic to though I can't say I've ever ingested the substance...

We were at Gracies and Craig's boss Ed was with us too and someone mentioned that Craig liked dill pickles. After a beer or 2 I can see that Ed isn't touching his decorative dill pickle so I merely mentioned to Craig ... "I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but it looks like you can eat your boss's pickle. And I'm sure it's not the first time".

I'm surprised he could just sit there and not pounce on it as soon as it hit the table...
