This has always pissed me off.

I'm checking my Sailor Moon image boards and I see this:
Image

This image is just a desktop wallpaper someone made. I'm always seeing that image pop up on fan sites as part of someone's layout or just generally used as a nice romantic picture of Tuxedo Mask kissing Sailor Moon.

Yeah... how sweet... only if you were a real Sailor Moon fan an were at all familiar with the events of the Sailor Moon R movie you'd realise that's not a scene which should be romanticised at all since she's freakin' dead!

Sailor Moon, floating high in the Earth's atmosphere on an asteroid uses the power of the silver crystal to stop it from crashing into the earth/delivering flowers which will destroy humanity and in doing so, as was the trend in the beginning of the anime, gives up her life..

Here she is dead:

Silver Crystal destroyed:

Tux holding her clearly dead:

Enter Fiore to save the day:
Image

Gives Tux the energy in the Kissenian which has been absorbed from the destruction of a number of planets:
Image

And he is here seen passing this energy to the still dead Sailor Moon:
Image

How romantic! I'm gonna make a freakin' wallpaper out of this!
Image

And then she comes back to life (for the 3rd time to date)
Image

And there was much rejoicing:

God damned moonies.

Not to mention the feathers there. There's a good 2 seasons before we see her with feathered wings. Ack. >_<

I think it's romantic even though she is dead...oh you're saying that the kiss brings her back? Well then everyone should think it's romantic...

I agree with you. And it's a very touching scene. But people don't generally pass it around as such. They consider it to be just a nice picture of them kissing which it really isn't. It's a step below CPR since the person dead, not dying.

And that's side breast action at the most...

... and yeah I think he is. Not gonna fight back when she's dead. They never hint at them having intercourse or any of the fun stuff leading up to it in the anime... though ChibiUsa doesn't come from nowhere. That's a while after the story is done though.

I thought this was your Corpse Bride topic Adam... and I come in here and see another Moon Rant and discover you have FEMALE groupies now...

the first was only a slight shock

oh side boob now i remember like when a chick's got a baggy t-shirt on and you can see in the arm hole... side boob... man I've been working to hard I'm forgetting ecential information now
:(

but yes back to the Moon princess: I'm not as sure as you are on my SM factology Adam but at this point storywise isn't she still a little young for the guy? or is the 'romance' suposed to help gloss over that part?

I only ever see these movies when Ytv has a marrathon

Huh? Who are my female groupies and why haven't I been fooling around with them?

Sailor Moon and Tux are, as their modern incarnation, on again off again from about 3/4 into the first season and then on for a permanent basis from R beyond. The age thing is never really more and issue at one point than another. She starts the series off at 14 and ends it at 16. Exact ages in there aren't really specified but she's mentioned to be 15 in an early SuperS episode (4th of 5 seasons).

This is the R movie taking place arguably late to after the end of the R season which is the 2nd of 5 seasons. Why I say arguably is because you can't really fit this movie in to continuity but it's around there.

So she's probably 14 here. And he's... 18? 20? Who knows. He had amnesia and his real age isn't really known. But whatever it's Japan so no one would even think twice about it. But as I mentioned in my first post they never mention any level of physicality beyond kissing between the two throughout the entire anime.

Japan is so cool, you can be a boarderline pedophile and its FINE if you're also a so-so superhero...

GAMERA :P

I never knew SM had its own cannon discrepancies.... I know it was up in the air as to when Tuxymask figured out who Reni was...

"that's an interesting birth mark on your aaahhhh! you're my daughter!"

isn't that some sort of poetic justice that time travel is the only real enemy of a japanese sudo-pedo Super guy

and those are some nice portman shots... starting to see a lot of that small hill large telescope thing... (OYO)
