So I originally got a 10% discount for bundling my cable TV and cable Internet and all was good. Then all of a sudden that discount was removed. I asked why and they said I was getting it in error and that Roger Lite Internet was no eligeable and 2 services only gave 5%. This was a change since they do phones now so they bumped all bundles down 5%. Lame. Liars.
So I upgraded to Rogers Express, the normal one, lately and applied for my measely 5% discount.
What do I get?
Quote: Dear Adam Gardner, Thank you for taking the time to write to us, we appreciate your use of online customer service. In your recent email, you have informed us that you wish to add the 5% bundle discount. We apologize for the delay in responding to your email. We are currently receiving higher email volume than normal, and are attempting to answer all email as quickly as possible in the order they arrive. We appreciate your interest in the bundle service. At this time, you do not qualify for the 5% bundle discount. In order to qualify, you need to add one of the below services to the Basic Cable.
-Analogue tiers (Original, Combo, MeTV, Ultimate) -Premium Digital Services (Movies Pack, Theme Packages, Digital Channels, etc.) -Premium Sport Packages (Super Sports Pack, Horse Racing Package) -Extra Outlets -Basic Cable + Digital Terminal (Including $2.99 Digital Service Fee)We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for choosing Rogers. For future reference with respect to this e-mail, please quote reference number xxx. Regards, Sylvie M.A. Rogers Online Customer Service http://www.rogers.comOriginal Message Follows: ------------------------ Order Number: xxx Customer's Name: aDam Gardner Customers Province: Ontario Customer's postal code: xxx Customer's email: xxx Customer selected the following services that they currently subscribe to: * Internet Plan * Cable TV Customer entitled to a discount of: 5% Customer's home phone: xxx Customer's wireless #: Customer's Cable TV #: xxx Customer's Rogers Home Phone #: Customer's Internet #: xxx Lovely! So now basic cable doesn't apply either. This is not obvious from the site that simply says you need "Internet" and "Cable TV" to be able to get it. In fact it took a while to find this on the site: Quote: Rogers Cable subscription to Basic Cable only does not qualify for the Rogers™ Better Choice Bundles™ discount program and is not discounted for such customers who otherwise qualify for the Rogers Better Choice Bundles™. Hidden away in some fine print terms and conditions. Quote: When I originally applied for this I was informed that I wasn't eligeable because I was using Rogers Lite Internet service. Now that I'm upgraded it's nice to see there's another loop hole. Thanks for making things difficult and unclear.
A very dissatisfied customer, Fuckers.

Bah, ROGERS blows!! They're service is sheer ass in my area -- PEI. I use TELUS personally. What are your thoughts on changing Service Providers? Like Eastlink for example.

My own personal internet scam issues are not relevant to the issue of Rogers fucking the little man out of his promissed discount.

This is not what the sales person I spoke to on the phone origianlly told me when I inquired about it a few months ago. Unfortunately I have no record of that conversation. Is this a new policy? The terms of this offer seem to change quite a bit.

I read this was coming awhile ago. I thankfully haven't gotten the notice yet. I just managed to get the east coast HD channels for free for 3 months but they'll probably suck me into paying for it after that I can see. I gotta go over my bill with a fine tooth comb to see what's what in the next billing cycle. I have 3 services but have avoided Home Phone for now. I guess you need all 4 for 15% I take it. I can't complain about the service itself, it's not horrible.

It used to be. When I was out my parents' house it dropped constantly and was about as fast in the best of times as my lite was here. Now it's good here but when I download it drops a lot.

I was thinking about looking into Bell but I've heard some horror stories there too. I know Sympatico sucks for an ISP to be sure but not sure about the tv business. They now have more HD channels that Rogers who used to lead but I still think you have to buy their PVR to the tune of $800 or something. Haven't checked in awhile

I have no idea about the TV but I believe Lisa uses them for both TV and Internet so she may be able to tell you.
My brother uses them for Internet because he has free cable and doesn't want them to disable that if he orders Internet. I think he siad it was crappy but he can speak for himself should he see this thread.
I wish they made ISP independant HD PVRs.

The only time I was over there Lisa wasn't going HD 'cause she had to replace her dish and chit. And I would imagine she wouldn't use too much Internet at home like you or I would.
